Prevalence of non-communicable diseases in India
The burden of critical illness in India can be measured in different ways, but the statistics around non-communicable diseases – largely linked to lifestyle – are still shocking. NCDs caused almost 6 million deaths in India in 2014.
Of course, as the second largest country in the world, the numbers will stand out. But when you use globally recognized indicators to compare rates of critical illnesses, such as NCDs, between India and the rest of the world, the statistics are still worrying.
